The Effect of Intranasal Triamicinolone Acetonide (NASACORT nasal inhaler) for Treatment of Patients with Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

Choe Jin-Woo
Abstract
A 4-week clinical study was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of once-a-day intranasal administration of triamcinolone acetonide aerosol in relieving the symptoms of rhinitis in 40 patients with perennial allergic rhinitis. The symptom scores of sneezing, watery rhinorrhea and nasal obstructionn were significantly reduced in patients who received intranasal triamcinolone acetonide aerosol(ITAA) over 2 weeks and 4 weeks. Nasal histamine provocation test showed that itching thresholds were significantly increased but sneezing thresholds were not changed. There were no significant adverse effects noted during this study. 72.5 % of the participants were relatively satisfied with ITAA. ITAA used once-a-day for 4 weeks is clinically and statistically suitable for the treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis.
